Write a clearer prompt for the AI song generator

A useful prompt combines a clear musical direction with a few details that matter to your song. Here are three places to start.

Start with a scene and a sound

Start with a genre, mood, and theme: “Acoustic folk about coming home, warm and relaxed.” Choose one clear direction so the arrangement has room to develop.

Describe the performance

Name the instruments and vocal delivery you want: “soft piano, a gentle female voice, and a chorus that builds.” For music without vocals, choose Pro and Instrumental.

Give your lyrics room to breathe

Put musical direction in Describe your song and lyrics in Your lyrics. Separate verses and choruses with line breaks; read the lines aloud to check their rhythm.

Listen, compare, and change one thing

Listen for the vocal delivery and balance of instruments. If the track feels too busy, simplify your description. Change one part of the brief at a time to compare results; each generation can also change the melody and arrangement.

A few things to know before your first song.

Can I try the AI song generator for free?

Yes. New BeatLark accounts receive 75 free credits. You can fill in the form before signing up, but you need to sign in to generate a song. Check the cost beside each Quality option before you generate.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Standard is the default and uses your own English or Chinese lyrics. Pro supports custom lyrics, automatic lyrics in Simple mode, and music without vocals in Instrumental mode. Choose Pro if you want to create music from a description without supplying lyrics.

How do I generate a song?

For Standard, enter both a music description and your lyrics. For Pro, choose Simple, Custom lyrics, or Instrumental and complete the required fields. Review the cost in Quality, sign in, and click Generate song. Each generation creates one track you can play and download.

Can I use my own lyrics, and what are the text limits?

Yes. Use Custom lyrics and paste your verses and chorus with line breaks. Standard requires a 10–300 character music description and 10–600 characters of lyrics. Pro accepts up to 2,000 characters in the description and 3,500 in the lyrics. Only submit lyrics you wrote or have permission to use.

Can I make instrumental music?

Yes. Select Pro in Quality, then choose Instrumental. Describe the genre, mood, and instruments, such as “gentle piano and soft strings, calm and unhurried.” You do not need lyrics. Standard supports songs with custom lyrics and does not offer Instrumental mode.

How are credits used?

The cost per track appears beside each Quality option. Standard uses one fifth of the credits required for Pro. Credits are reserved when you submit a generation; changing settings or editing lyrics is free. Each new version is a separate generation and uses credits at the selected quality.

What happens if a song fails to generate?

If a generation is confirmed as failed, the credits charged for that attempt are returned to your account. A slow or interrupted page does not necessarily mean generation failed. Check My songs or return to the page before submitting again. Returned credits are not a refund to your payment method.

Can I change a song after generating it?

Yes. Open My songs, choose Use this version, then edit the lyrics or description and generate again. This creates a new recording and uses credits; the melody, voice, and arrangement may change. Earlier versions stay in My songs. Editing part of an existing recording, audio uploads, and covers are not currently supported.

Where are my songs saved?

Sign in and open My songs to play, rename, download, or reuse your saved tracks. Create new song starts a blank form without deleting earlier recordings. Download the MP3 files you want to keep as your own backup.

Can I use generated music commercially?

Commercial use depends on the provider terms and the rights to any lyrics you submit. Before publishing, review the MiniMax terms, Replicate terms, and BeatLark Terms of Service. Buying credits does not by itself grant exclusive copyright or guarantee clearance for every use.

Can I choose an exact song length?

There is no exact-duration setting. You can describe the length or structure you have in mind, but the result may vary. The finished track displays its actual duration.

Do I need music experience?

No. Describe the style, mood, and instruments in everyday language. Bring your own lyrics for Standard, or choose Pro and Simple mode to have lyrics written during generation. You do not need recording equipment or knowledge of music notation.

What audio format can I download?

Songs are saved as MP3 files. Open More settings before generating to choose the sample rate and bitrate; the defaults are 44,100 Hz and 256 kbps. Use Download MP3 on a finished track to save a copy.
